flowers

You can take a plain candle of any color, and decoupage it for a brand new look! This is a cool way to decorate your house for cheap. These also make fantastic gifts, especially for holidays. Or, make a bunch for, say, Christmas and use them as decorations! The sky is the limit with these, and they turn out looking fantastic.

Materials needed:

  • Candle.
  • Decorative napkins (you could also use dried flowers if you wanted, or something else that is rather thin).
  • Decoupage finish.
  • Sponge brush.

Instructions:

  • First, clean and dry the candle.
  • Next, cut out the motifs you want from paper napkins.
  • Separate the inner layers of the napkin and discard.
  • In a thin coat, apply decoupage finish to the candle surface.
  • Press the napkin over the surface of the candle, using your fingers to smooth as you go.
  • Using your sponge brush, brush decoupage finish over the entire candle and let dry.
  • After the first coat is dry, apply a second coat of finish over entire candle.
